Preparation is most of the job
Filling, caulking, sanding back and spot priming is where a decoration is won or lost, and it is the part that gets skipped when a price looks too good. Cracked caulk lines, nail holes and old brush marks all show through two coats of expensive paint, so they get dealt with before a tin is opened.
Sharp lines and clean edges
Cut in by hand, straight lines at the ceiling and where wall meets woodwork, and no roller texture running onto the skirting. Colour changes and feature walls are set out with a level and a laser rather than by eye, and the finish is checked in daylight rather than under a work light.
Exterior work that lasts
Exterior masonry, render, fascias, soffits, windows and doors, prepared back to a sound edge, primed where bare and finished in a coating suited to the substrate. Weather and season matter outside, so exterior work gets booked into a sensible window rather than painted into rain to hit a date.
Wallpaper, panelling and specialist finishes
Hanging paper, including patterned and heavy weight, plus wall panelling, dado and picture rails and the making good around them. If you have seen a finish you like and are not sure what it is, send a picture and we will tell you what it takes to get it.

Do you decorate single rooms or only whole houses?
Both. A single room, a staircase and landing or one exterior elevation are all normal work, and plenty of it happens between larger projects. Small jobs get the same preparation and the same written price as a full house.
How long does it take to decorate a house?
A three bedroom house being fully redecorated inside is usually one to two weeks with a small team, depending on how much filling and caulking it needs and whether woodwork is being done as well. A single room is a day or two. Exteriors depend as much on the weather and the state of the surface as on the size.
What paint do you use?
Trade grade paint suited to the surface and the room, and we will tell you where a better product is worth the money and where it genuinely is not. If you have a colour or a brand you want, that is fine, and if you want the finish matched to something you already have, bring a sample and we will match it.
Can you paint a rendered or pebbledashed exterior?
Yes. Render and pebbledash both need proper preparation, cleaning down, cutting out and repairing cracks, and a masonry coating that lets the wall breathe. On the older render around Maidstone and the Medway towns, repairing what has blown before painting is what stops the same crack coming back in a year.
Do you cover furniture and floors?
Yes. Floors get sheeted, furniture is moved to the middle and covered, and anything not being painted is masked. The house gets cleaned down at the end of every day rather than left under dust sheets for a fortnight.
